Es war ein unspektakulärer Eventstart am ersten Tag des 2015 KIA Cold Hawaii-World Cups. Mit  extrem ablandigem Wind und einem Mangel an Wellen waren die Starter nach der obligatorischen Anmeldung am Vormittag bis 15:00 auf stand by. Earlier in the day we quickly caught up with the current world tour leader - Victor Fernandez (Fanatic / North / MFC) - who had this to say: “So far this year I couldn’t have asked for much more. The Canaries leg of the tour went great and it’s a dream to be leading at this stage. It also gives me a lot of extra motivation for the week ahead and for the rest of the year. The forecast looks promising and I’ll try my best again here. I’m just going to take it heat by heat.”   After a quiet first day the attention now turns towards tomorrow, which holds plenty of promise with the forecast predicting wind from first light tomorrow - with this in mind the skippers’ meeting has been called for 7:30am with the first possible start for the trials at 8am. The latest forecast model shows the wind coming through from the SSW for a time, which should quickly generate a wave and waves of almost 2 metres are being predicted for tomorrow, so we are hopeful of an exciting day of action. An official announcement for the sailors already in the main draw will be made at 8:45am with the first possible start at 9:15am.
